Hi there
I'm a student/writer/editorial assistant for the Southern Review, a literary magazine.
I just wanted to start a thread for talking about creative publications.

Re: Literary Magazines
Mon, February 4, 2008 - 10:19 PMI think I got turned down the Southern Review about 15 years ago (along with the Atlanta Review, Plains Poetry Journal, Sycamore Review, etc.) I was actively submitting for about 2 years with 4 submissions out at any given time. Finally, the New Yorker Quarterly accepted two. After that, I kind of petered out. I still want to be published in the Plum, Ohio and Atlanta Review, but my writing has gotten edgier and I don't write their type of poetry anymore.

Re: creative publication
Thu, February 7, 2008 - 10:39 PMConsidering how much of my life is is involved with the web in some way, I've never wanted to submit work online. I think it's because I like paper way too much.
I did join urbis.com, but I never got good notes back for revisions:

Question for Susan: Are there any online mags that have a good reputation among the lit mag crowd?
Other than Atlanta Review and Chicago Review which I can pick up at my local bookstore, I don't read much poetry online.
