Does your INFP-ness make you more prone to emotional turmoil when subjects like Tibet, or GLBT rights, or the trees in Berkeley are discussed?
I feel the need to atleast stand up in support and be counted, to peacefully/gracefully protest human rights violation or natural destruction.
I try to research the subject and be more informed, and dare I say, take a thinker's/logical approach, but I always end up going with what my gut feel/emotion says.
Am I an INFP looking for a cause?

Re: Are you prone to social causes?
Fri, April 11, 2008 - 6:26 PMSounds like you are an INFP responding to a cause. You've probably found that some are more close to your heart, and those are the ones you'll continue to support. For me, it's children's and women's rights; and for you it may be something else. There are so many to choose from, so choose the ones closest to you now. -

Fri, April 11, 2008 - 10:23 PMfor me its just the underdog... whomever that may be ..person, animal, plant etc...I cant handle unfairness or crualty.
I agree that its just what my heart responds to.. not that Im looking for it..
but In this world we dont really have to look ..its everywhere -

Re: Are you prone to social causes?
Sat, April 12, 2008 - 8:09 PMYes, yes, yes and yes!
All of the above, and probably in the way Jessy states: "What my heart responds to"..
It is as important as breathing for me, I am what I am...when I feel for the underdog?, see something wholeheartedly I believe in it has me boots and all, not kinda patch up stuff either. Dinky di lets figure stuff out, or stop this from happening, (where possible). Obviously the larger scheme (eg Tibet, world atrocities) is trickier. I honestly believe small deeds can help though, it maybe acts of kindness, just listening, problem solving, donate time..education! leadership...
From that involvement comes the realisation of so many people out there doing their small stuff too, inspiring people, the ripples of hope and achieving...
Social causes have been a part of my life from childhood, I just get smarter (lol, hopefully!) about what I can do, and how.

I read somewhere that we make good social messiahs/leaders once we find a cause that is close to us.
I'm pretty prone to helping the underdog, or children, women or larger causes.
I feel for them.
But its not always that I do something about that feeling.
A lot of times, my laziness gets the better of me, or my introverted-ness.
For example, I wanted to do something when the oil-spill happened in the bay area.
But all I ended up doing was writing a letter to Dawn, thanking them for all the free dishwashing soap they were donating for cleaning up the birds. It was partly my laziness and partly the fact that there werent too many newbie volunteer opportunities (you have to be trained to help those birds)
However, with the torch run/Tibet thing, I did participate and did it my way, and was very content with the outcome.
But I'm not sure if I relate with a certain cause to the extent of being a leader/major-contributor to it and have it be my life's goal.
Maybe I haven't found the cause, or maybe there will never be such a thing. -

Re: Are you prone to social causes?
Sun, April 13, 2008 - 10:28 PMim real good at procrastinating.......bad me! : )
that can keep me from doing what I really intend to do
but Im getting better.
getting my BA in human services for social work is my first step in making this my lifestyle and not only my dream.
eventually I will continue to narrow it down until I find a few causes Im really passionate about as oppose to trying to save the world....
hhhhhhhm thats a thought..heehee!
Ill be right back.... ; )
